The marshy banks of the Rain Wild River and its corrosive waters make it an unfit land for building. As such, Trehaug is constructed within the canopy of the immense trees that line the river banks. Homes and businesses exist on platforms built into the tree trunks or on branches, and buildings are connected by hanging bridges.
Trehaug was built over the ruins of the Elderling city Frengong. The many treasures unearthed in the ruins are the source of the Rain Wild Traders' wealth.
