Are bingthau dragons and elderings same. And were they humans bec ause in bookis said thata ederings created dragons and sometimes that elderings are dragons. md in book was said that with skill you cantalk with them. Did someone used thisability?
I just recently read many of Robin Hobb's books and am interested in assisting with this wiki.
The first thing I want to look into doing is creating a Character Infobox Template and then begin adding it to some of the character pages.
I was hoping to get your input on what you thought of this ideal.
I've only just started thinking it through but the Info Boxes would contain information such as the following: Character
Skill Coterie Novels and Stories
What do you think about those items making it onto the Infobox? Are there any you can think of adding?
Thank you, SecondAlarm (talk) 00:07, January 11, 2016 (UTC)
I think the infoboxes are a great idea, thanks for making them. The only extra things I can think of to add would be 'occupation', and 'location' or 'residence', but the one's you've added look pretty good so far.
There's not much editing traffic on the wiki (and most of the recent stuff is anonymous comments/fixing typos), so feel free to make as many changes to stuff as you want. And let me know if you need any admin tasks done, and try I'll get onto them quickly.
OK, I've setup the Character Infobox on a few articles and I've also created an updated Book Infobox and added it to all the book articles.
I plan on moving on to many of the other characters in the next few days, but before I do I wanted to recommend some changes to the naming of the character articles.
A lot of the Character Articles are named including the Character's Title at the time of the article's creation. For example, the Prince Dutiful Farseer article isn't necessarily correct because in the latest books he is King Dutiful. I would recommend renaming the article to Dutiful Farseer.
Would it be alright with you if I went through and renamed these articles as I add the Infoboxes or would you prefer I create discussion on each one and then wait for responses (or a certain amount of time) before I move forward with renaming it?
Sorry it took me almost a month to respond! I've been quite busy. I was able to resize the logo but I didn't have any luck converting the favicon to a .ico. I'm not sure how to do that but if I figure it out I'll let you know. Here is the new logo :)
No problem! Thank you for the complement! Also, I like the background a lot. I wish that there was something that we could use that would fit the theme but since these are books we have very limited artwork to work from. Haha.
I was wondering, is there anyone or anything that you would prefer to be included in a logo? I was planning on working on a logo over the next week and was interested in incorporating one of the dragons but I wasn't sure which.
Any of the dragons would be great! The current logo is just from a screenshot of one of the books with some text over it (I'm not very good at designing things), so I'm sure you can come up with something better. Having the words 'Realm of the Elderings Wiki' or 'Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderlings Wiki' on it would be good too.
Do you know anything about favicons too?
If you have any ideas you want to throw around, I'm happy to discuss.
Your information is great, so keep on making edits! Sorry if I've come across too picky about formatting. Editing and formatting are part of what I do at work, so adjusting all that is second nature to me (also, it's really hard to edit your own work).
You happen to be further ahead in the books than I am, I'm only part way through Dragon Haven, so it's great having someone putting up-to-date information in!
For characters in several series separate sections would be good. That way, people can avoid spoilers for series they haven't read yet.
An elderlings category would be good (do we already have one?). That way we can list them, but not clutter up a page.
Also, I'm about to go on holiday for a month with no/sporadic internet access. I won't be able to do anything on the wiki for that time, but keep on doing what you have been doing, it's great! You might have overtaken me with edits by the time I get back. BUT I should have read up to City of Dragons by then, so I'll be much more useful.
Okay, I'll keep dividing it up. See Paragon for a rough example of what I was trying.
I'm not sure if we do have an Elderling category but it can hardly be difficult to make and enforce one as I have a list of them made on the page already!
Well, I hope you're going to do something enjoyable with your vacation time. I'll keep plodding along on fleshing things out. I read in sort of a strange order Liveships -> Rain Wild Chronicles -> Farseer -> Tawny Man so things came in a bit odd but I'll try to keep patching things up.
Hi, How's it going? I managed to get through the first 3 Rain Wild books on my holiday, now I'm part way through Blood of Dragons. Once I'm done with that I think I might pick a book at random and go through slowly with editing the wiki, adding in pages for secondary characters and the information that is at the start of each paragraph. It means we will get a lot of detail about more minor things, but I think it's good to have that info around.
